An accomplished certified public accountant, Larry Wittig is the owner of Wittig CPA's in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. Also the president of Tamaqua Transfer & Recycling, Inc., Larry Wittig is known for his civic leadership, which included a 12-year term serving on the board of trustees for Philadelphia University.

Renamed Thomas Jefferson University when Philadelphia University merged with the institution in 2017, the school is a prominent private university in Philadelphia. Known for its signature hands-on approach to education called “Nexus Learning,” Thomas Jefferson University encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration among students. An example of this is the assistive technology collaboration (ATC) program, which is more than 20 years old.

A partnership between graduate students in the field of occupational therapy and undergraduate students in industrial design, ATC focuses on developing innovative designs for adaptive and assistive devices to support clients with special needs. Past projects have included designing an organizer for a child with autism, a shampoo dispenser for a young person with Down syndrome, and a meal-prep assistive device for a middle-aged woman who has lost the use of one arm.
